Functions and Responsibilities
The Sector is responsible for carrying out the following functions:
In the area of Management:
- Design, create, and implement a General IT Plan and monitor its execution, in line with the needs of the SM and the requirements of the States Parties.
- Manage projects related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
- Analyze, design, and implement technological renewal processes.
In the area of Support:
- Install and maintain software and hardware.
- Provide support to MERCOSUR bodies and forums upon request.
- Provide network support at SM facilities.
- Administer and provide support for email services.
- Install IT equipment for meetings and videoconferences.
- Assess equipment status for potential replacements or new acquisitions.
In the area of Systems:
- Analyze, design, and implement technological solutions in the SM Data Processing Center (DPC) and carry out their maintenance.
- Analyze, design, and implement IT security policies and processes for information protection.
- Administer and configure the DPC virtualization platform and network infrastructure.
- Monitor IT infrastructure.
In the area of Software Development:
- Analyze, design, develop and implement software solutions based on user requirements.
- Act as the counterpart in the development of systems carried out by third parties.
- Develop user and procedure manuals.
- Maintain software applications developed by or for the SM.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and resolve software issues.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Director of the SM or by MERCOSUR decision-making bodies.
